Moroccan markets

A small blog post here from Meknes, Morocco. Just wanted to share with you a few images from the streets I photographed yesterday. People here in Morocco really like their markets. From the big city like Fes with a very large Medina to the smaller towns out in the countryside, the markets definitely are a rallying point. This is where the locals come to buy their everyday necessities – food, clothes, electronics, all kinds of small things no one really needs. You can pretty much buy anything. But the thing about the food is that it’s always fresh, and that it hasn’t been transported from the other end of the country. The fruits, the vegetables – all local produce, and many butchers will slaughter the chicken you pick right on the spot. Refrigerators are not aplenty, and the shops that actually have one are typically the small ones selling beverages. And yes, it can most certainly feel as crowded as it might seem in the picture above :-)
